This is my second unit, the dock went bad on the first one which was only a year old. This one has a hard time connecting to the IPOD from the backyard which isn't very far from the dock. Still, a little bit of a hassle but it's great to have your entire music collection avail. from anywhere in and out of the house. I have a 2-zone receiver and the second zone is the back yard so I use this all summer long.

I haven't had a remote that worked so well. This remote is user friendly to program and you can program any keys that are still missing once the device is set. I still have my Tivo remote for channel surfing because the ff/rewind buttons are bigger but when I do this is always by my side for everything else including changing the TV menu, etc. I use it for my receiver, DVD, TV and as soon as I can I'm going to teach it the codes manually for my PC. Due to it's progamability and range of signal if this was just a universal remote it would be a good one to have if a little on the heavy side.
At this point I tried out the IPod dock and I fell in love. I know I'm gushing but it is so cool that you can plug the dock into your speakers or receiver, set your IPhone (yes it works with my 3GS phone) in the dock and hear your music through your home system instead of little portable speakers without losing the option of selecting the artist or song or switching from music to a video and back again! Now when a song comes on that makes me think of another song/singer I can use the remote to search for that song while my IPhone is still playing and select the new song when the first one is finished.
Two small details...
the first is you have to go back to the main screen to select the shuffle option every time you reconnect the IPod to the dock - not so bad when listening to your IPod however if you've got your Iphone connected since you have to remove the IPhone to take a call, everytime you answer your phone and then redock the phone to restart your music you have to reset the shuffle option.
The second is that the playlists are rearranged alphabetically by the remote instead of the order you loaded them in your playlist. This is not a big deal for me since as you can see from my earlier comment I prefer shuffle mode anyway but if it is for you another reviewer found an easy solution (thank you Sasha!) If you start the playlist ( >) without first selecting to see the playlist contents, it will play in order. Once you select the playlist..it alphabetizes. .
Overall both of these are minor details compared to what this remote does so well. Get it and don't look back!
I'm so impressed with mine I've already bought a bunch of these for my family and the only ones not getting this for Christmas are the ones who don't have an IPod/IPhone. Don't tell them - it's a surprise! Holy smoke it's June and I've already got half of my Christmas shopping done - hmmm now if someone could tell me what is a good camera for long shots I'm going to go outside and see if I can get a picture of the flying pigs migrating south for the winter. I really don't want to miss THAT!

Works well as advertised. I also appreciated that the remote control had more capabilities than I imagined, and that it could be useful in controlling additional devices connected to an entertainment center.
However, I was not so satisfied with the iPod version we had, in that Apple did not provide in it the capability to connect to a TV and display the menu properly. This made its TV usage worthless.
The real saving part of the Philips Remote was its large LCD display. It was possible to see and control iPod menu from the Remote itself.

Excellent remote.....Would highly recommend! It was recommended by a friend, but when I googled "Philips Universal Remote" It did not come up and I had to get the model number from my friend! It is worth every penny!

Is great to view the ipod menu form the remote control, even if the light is turned off. I don,t have to point the remote control to the cradle because it uses frequency so I could operate my ipod from any place in my apartment. Also I don`t need any other remote cause this one operates my tv, my dvd, my stereo, and my ipod. Love this product. Thank you.
