Product Description The Logitech Harmony 1100 gives you powerful home-entertainment control through a customizable, 3.5-inch full-color touch screen. Controls are easy to access and are backlit, so you can easily find them in the dark. One-touch, activity-based controls turn on the right devices in the right order with a single command. RF wireless capability lets you control devices without direct line-of-sight, so you can keep components in a closed cabinet or even another room (requires Logitech Harmony RF Extender, sold separately). The on-screen commands are customizable, so you get the commands you want, when you want them. The Harmony 1100 supports more than 5000 brands and over 225,000 devices.

Excellent Remote a bit of a struggle to set up March 9, 2010 Mark E. Gold (Cali) My only real complaint is that it is a bit of a struggle to set up. I have had two other harmony remotes and for each one I always end up having to call tech support to finish the set up. Tech phone support has been excellent and almost always gave me the information I needed to finish the support. Note "almost", there are thousands of remotes out there and this remote can almost function as almost all of them. There are a few situations were it gets close enough to mostly work but not always perfectly. I can live with these few glitches in order to get rid of the extra remotes.
I would highly recommend getting the wireless extender! It makes it possible to hide your components in any cabinet and not worry about having a "obstruction free line of site" to the component.
Great for some things but does not replace the old remotes March 8, 2010 L. Schenck (Hollywood, MD United States) This is the neatest whiz-bang gadget you could imagine. From that perspective it is a hands-down winner. What I wanted though, was simply to replace the 4 seperate remotes I needed to operate my Sony Juke Box DVD player, LG BlueRay player, Sony A/V receiver, and LG LCD TV.
Out of the box it is easy to get your hopes up. Initial set up moves fairly quickly, although the included software does not support Windows 7, it is easy enough to download from the Logitech site. The first hint of things to come is when setting up a device you have to answer many questions about how your current remote controls x, y, z, etc. If the device is supported in the Logitech database why is this necessary? For my Sony DVP-CX995V, an older 400 disc DVD jukebox player, several of the questions weren't quite answerable. Likewise with my LG 47LH90, a new model TV. As a consequence neither of these devices worked quite right with the remote. Many frustrating hours later and I finally have a basic capability but I still have to keep all four of my old remotes handy. And be cautioned, the Harmony has no way of knowing if you use your original remote and is then out of synch with the device. Any subsequent uses of the Harmony result in unpredictable results.
After I thought I had all of this under control I attempted to impress a guest with my new toy. Ten minutes later and I finally had to give up and pull out the old remotes to simply; Turn everything on, select the correct inputs for each device, select the desired disc in the DVD player, and play it. Even when it works, the process is so involved, requiring multiple pages of menus, etc. that I could never explain it's use to anyone.
Another complaint is the poor battery performance. The remote defaults to a mode where the display goes blank in what seems like a second after it is idle. If you're trying to decide what to press next (a VERY common situation) that is very aggravating. Even so it won't make it through a two hour movie without a low battery.
My most recent gripe is that, after I thought I had everything working, I had to select the DVD player as a device to access the menu and then could not control the volumn (one of the few hard keys on the remote)without going through many layers of menus to get the receiver re-recgonised. To the Logitech help guys that pooh-pooh my complaints, try doing that while interacting with a 'friend', a movie, and a bottle of wine.
I work in a technical field and I think I have the ability to make this work. The point is that something that costs this much should not require this much effort just to do the basics. Plus when I do get a chance to kick back I want to watch a movie, not play with the remote.
So. This isn't going to work for me and somebody will get a great deal on e-bay. But it isn't a slam on the remote either. It is what it is and there are lots of people that will be in techie heaven programming and playing with this thing.
Pros: Great high-tech look, Controls almost everything, programmable to a degree.
Cons: HIGH cost, poor battery performance, slave to Logitech website for any remote programming, convoluted set up and control use, too complicated to expect non tech-savy family members to ever get it.
Harmony 1100 March 8, 2010 Daniel A. Sanger (KY) Before I purchased this remote I researched the various forums. Although there were some disparaging remarks about the device the majority were good. I have not been disappointed by the product, its service or the customer support. If you purchase this you will find that you are constantly fine tuning it to your exact requirements. This is an on going process as you discover features you want to add. Adding features is a simple task. This remote does everything I'd hoped it would. I've had it for a few months now and still pleased. If you are looking for a remote that will replace every other remote you have this is the one. I can now watch a DVD, with the TV off, by touching one button on the remote. It turns the TV on, sets it to the correct input, turns on the home theater, sets it to the correct input and turns on the DVD, all by pushing one button....my wife says" fantastic"..a happy wife is make life so much better.
Harmony 1100 Remote February 26, 2010 Meiko (Deltona, FL United States) Before buying this remote I checked the Logitech web site list to make certain that all of my equipment was supported (everything was listed). When I had problems with one item I got a surprise. When I contacted support they said "the projector is highly rated in our database". Later when they were not being successful in resolving the problem they said "the commands are not in our database". Well, if the commands are not in their database, why do they rate the item highly -- and why do they list it as fully supported. I would caution that seeing your equipment on the list does not necessarily mean that the remote will work. Go figure! For the equipment that the remote worked with, it is quite nice and it did let me put aside several remotes and simplify things. I have set it up to work with equipment in 3 rooms and a total of 12 equipment items (the projector would have been 13). Tech Support is still working to see if they can get the projector to work. Today I got an update that turns the projector on and off, but none of the other functions work (brightness, contrast, aspect ...about 15 items total). UPDATE: another update from tech support has resolved ALL problems. As I was setting up the remote to work with the various items, tech support was very responsive (I had some other problems but they were easy to resolve). I also love the LARGE and LIGHTED display that lets you see the controls when the room is darkened. It may take you some time to customize, but it is well worth the effort!!!
The best remote out there! February 25, 2010 Simon Camaj Ok I got the remote 1 day ago. All i have to say about this universal remote is good things. Setup on my many gadgets was fast and very easy. This device is very easy to use. Its a device that catches someones eye in a second. Everyone who comes over wants to play with it. Never had a universal remote like this one its the perfect remote.
