3 out of 5 stars Great universal remote, except....   May 21, 2010

Very easy to set up, use, configure and has great range. Only problem, as other reviewers have written, the LCD back light is only partially working and it is very hard to see all of the LCD screen in the dark - very annoying.

I'm very dissapointed with this unit. I found many codes missing, in particular Direct TV codes, so I have to program each key by itself. Sometimes, the key I've just programed, losses it function, so I have to reprogram again!!!

Also, at the second day of use, the display showed a black spot in the background that makes me impossible to watch with the built in ligth. I've changed the battery and have the same black spot!!!

I asked technical support to NXG, and even since they anwered me twice, they stopped sending me mail...

I strongly recommend not to buy this product. Very very low quality.

5 out of 5 stars If it wasn't broke, I'd love it.   April 15, 2010

I received this with a defective backlight. I like it so much I almost considered just keeping it...but alas I had to send it back. The unit itself was very easy to program. It accepted every learned function I sent to it and was easy to use. A warning though...if you purchase this product it does go through a second vendor. If you have any issues (such as mine) it cannot be exchanged, just returned. Kind of a pain.

4 out of 5 stars Universal remote control   April 14, 2010

Yup, it works. I had seven (count 'em) seven remotes. I was having recurring night terrors about all my remote controls organizing to attack me--no more. Aside from that, this single remote control has given me more viewing, listening, etc., time and less fumbling, sorting and selecting the proper remote control for the device I wish to control. More than once I was carted off to the looney bin because I couldn't decide which remote to use. Now my life is perfect. Here's to a world of simplicity--of only one remote control. Neighbor's dog barking? Click. Spouse talking back when ordered to fetch a beer? Click. Kids out of control? Click. IRS audit? Click. Click. Click. Click.

3 out of 5 stars Not as easy as I thought...   April 13, 2010

Well, if you are like so many of us out there with a remote for everything under the sun seeking out an easy fix. This may be or might not be the way to roll.

I am from the "I can easily program a VCR" generation. Every time father would have an issue, he'd call me to fix it. It was usually to set the clock. No problem. This remote isn't as easy.

Inputting the codes to make the Television (Samsung PN58C590)was a snap. My Blu-Ray Home Theater (Samsung HT-C6500) wasn't so easy. I could only find the code to work the Blu-Ray leaving the audio portion non functional. My Dish Network HDTV/DVR receiver wasn't a problem to find, there is only one code for that unit. But, I am yet to figure out how to use all the functions on the Dish Network receiver.

What I was looking for in a remote was a unit that would turn my toys on and off. Turn up and turn down the volume. Play my DVD/Blu-Ray disks, access my Netflix channel in my Blu-Ray player, turn the channels and have the ability to record and watch my DVR on my Dish Network receiver. Well, this thing is complicated!!!

I believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. However, it's been a month and I am still trying to figure this out. It's a solid remote, I like how it feels in my hand. I just can't figure it out.

Best of luck to ya if you get it. It does appear to be worth the money! My metal facilities just aren't up to "par" these days.
